Drivers' courtesy leads to rollover accident

by Administrator 19. April 2010 13:05
According to authorities, no one was injured in a two-vehicle rollover accident around 7:55 a.m. Monday on Seventh Avenue in Marion.

Eastbound traffic was lined up at 14th Street but drivers had left a gap for crossing traffic from Seventh Avenue.

A man driving a van on Seventh Avenue attempted to take advantage of this gesture, but failed to check oncoming traffic in the westbound lane. An oncoming van crashed into his van, sending the first into a roll. While the man's windows were shattered, both drivers came away from the accident unscathed.

Due to the traffic pileup, the woman driving the van that struck the man's van was unable to see that he intended to enter the lane until it was too late to brake.

Police at the scene would not reveal whether they intended to charge either person involved in the accident.
