Obama orders federal workplaces to improve employee safety

by Administrator 30. July 2010 09:33

Last week, President Obama signed an order asking all federal agencies to improve their safety standards and reduce injury and illness in their employees over the next four years.

By 2014, federal workplaces should have reduced the number of injuries a year, reduced the time it takes to review a claim, and sped up employees' returns to the workplace if they do become injured.

"Many of these work-related injuries and illnesses are preventable, and executive departments and agencies can and should do even more to improve workplace safety and health, reduce the financial burden of injury on taxpayers, and relieve unnecessary suffering by workers and their families," stated Obama.
