A professional motorcycle stunt rider died on Sunday after a mechanical failure caused him to miss his landing in a practice jump.

Jim "The Real Deal" McNeil, 32, was at the Fort Worth Texas Motor Speedway when the accident occurred. McNeil was taken by helicopter to the hospital where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later of blunt force trauma to his neck and chest. His chest was crushed when his motorcycle hit the ramp.

This is the first death of the tour in fourteen years. Witnesses say he was wearing all of his protective gear at the time. McNeil was a part of the Boost Mobile FMX team for seven years and competed in five X-Games.

Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
