A 43 year-old volunteer figerfighter from Washta was struck by a car late last week while directing traffic.
The man says he and other volunteer firefighters of the Washta Volunteer Fire Department were alerted about a car fire on Highway 31. The thirteen-year volunteer veteran was hit by a car driven by a 51 year-old woman who did not see him in the road. He sustained only minor injuries and was transported to Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
He says he has some cuts and bruises, and is sore, but he is okay. The man would like to warn winter drivers to slow down and be alert when approaching scenes of an accident.
